Welcome Speech
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Good morning and a very warm welcome to all distinguished guests, respected speakers, colleagues, partners, and delegates.
On behalf of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, it is my great honour and pleasure to welcome you to the 5th Malaysian Advances in Women’s Congress, held on 17th and 18th April 2026 at Holiday Inn Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
This year, MAWHC carries a meaningful and timely theme — “Revisiting the Fundamentals”, with the guiding principle of “Investing in Women’s Health.”
In an age of rapid innovation, advanced technologies, and evolving healthcare systems, this theme reminds us that true progress must always be anchored in strong fundamentals. Revisiting the fundamentals means reaffirming our commitment to sound clinical principles, evidence-based practice, ethical responsibility, and compassionate, patient-centred care.
Investing in women’s health is not merely about resources or technology — it is about investing in knowledge, skills, education, prevention, and continuity of care across a woman’s life course.
Throughout this congress, we will revisit core concepts while integrating current evidence and real-world practice. It is our hope that these discussions will strengthen clinical confidence, refine decision-making, and inspire renewed dedication to excellence in women’s healthcare.
Once again, welcome to MAWHC 2026. May this congress be a platform for reflection, collaboration, and meaningful progress as we revisit the fundamentals and continue investing in women’s health.
Thank you.

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Good morning and a very warm welcome to all distinguished guests, speakers, colleagues, and delegates.
It is my privilege, as Chairman of the MAWHC Organising Committee, to address you at the opening of the 5th Malaysian Advances in Women’s Congress 2026.
This congress is guided by a clear and purposeful theme — “Revisiting the Fundamentals”, with a strong emphasis on “Investing in Women’s Health.”
This theme reflects our shared understanding that excellence in women’s healthcare is built on strong foundations. While innovation continues to shape modern medicine, it is the fundamentals — clinical judgement, core knowledge, preventive care, and ethical practice — that ensure safety, quality, and equity in healthcare delivery.
Across the sessions over these two days, the programme has been carefully designed to revisit essential principles, address persistent clinical challenges, and bridge foundational knowledge with contemporary practice.
MAWHC remains a collaborative platform that brings together clinicians, academicians, researchers, and healthcare stakeholders, united by a shared goal — to advance women’s health through education, research, and partnership.
I wish everyone a productive, enriching, and inspiring congress as we collectively revisit the fundamentals and reaffirm our commitment to investing in women’s health.
Thank you.
